All work must be completed during the hackathon period.

Eligibility
  • Open to university students, both undergraduate and graduate.

  • Participants must be 18 years or older.

  • Teams may consist of 1 to 4 members.

  • Only individuals may participate; no company or institutional teams.

  • All participants must register on Devpost and check in at the event.

Project and Submission Requirements
  • Projects must be created using MATLAB (Simulink optional).

  • A dataset and challenge statement will be provided at the start of the event.

  • Teams must submit:

    • MATLAB files (script, function, or live script)

    • A presentation (video, slide deck, or written report, max 5 minutes)

    • A public link to a GitHub or MATLAB Drive repository

    • Required Devpost form fields (team name, members, tech used, special notes)

  • Only one submission per team.

  • Submissions must be made before the deadline. Late entries may not be considered.

Prizes
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded.

  • All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

  • Prizes may be awarded in the form of merchandise, gift cards, or sponsor-provided items.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Creativity & Originality (10 pts) – Is the approach innovative?

  • Technical Execution (25 pts) – MATLAB/Simulink proficiency, code quality, and correctness

  • Functionality & Accuracy (20 pts) – Does the model work as intended?

  • Clarity of Results (10 pts) – Clear presentation of results and insights

  • Presentation Quality (10 pts) – Well-structured, engaging, and understandable

The highest-scoring teams will be awarded prizes. Judges’ decisions are final.

Code of Conduct

We are committed to a safe, inclusive environment for all participants.

Harassment is strictly prohibited, including:

  • Offensive verbal comments related to identity, background, or appearance

  • Sexual images, stalking, recording without consent

  • Disruption, intimidation, or unwelcome sexual attention

Photography is encouraged, but participants must be allowed to opt out. Do not take photos where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g., bathrooms or sleeping areas).

All projects and sponsors are subject to this policy. Sponsors must not use sexualized images or create a sexualized environment.

If you witness or experience harassment, contact a staff member immediately. We will assist and take appropriate action, including warnings, removal from the event, or contacting authorities.

This Code of Conduct applies to all event spaces — in-person and online.
